DURJOY CHOUDHURY

"if I could build you a world of love

  woven with threads of light,

but darling, there is only darkness."

Artist Bio

Durjoy Choudhury is a singer-songwriter and multi-disciplinary artist from Kolkata, India. He has been performing since 2005 and has been releasing music independently under his solo project since 2023. He is also the frontman of Murphy’s Paradox, an indie-pop-rock band active since 2019.

His music is rooted in intimate songwriting, understated production, and a fascination with the emotional spaces between things left unsaid. Across his solo work and the band, he has developed a body of songs that often feels less like a collection of singles and more like fragments of larger stories.

His latest work, Epiphanies of a Defeated Artist in Denial, is a collaborative project with pianist Sreetama Bhattacharya and violinist Dibyokamal Mitra. It is a four-song conceptual EP written in a single night during a period of profound emotional collapse. Rather than being conceived as separate songs, the four pieces form a continuous emotional narrative — moving through hopelessness, disillusionment, anxiety, and finally resignation.

For Choudhury, songwriting is less about constructing answers than documenting moments of truth. The songs arrive when they need to, often without a plan
